The Ministry of Health (MoH) has released an updated New Zealand Health Strategy for public consultation and is running a thorough consultation process to engage New Zealanders in the future direction of their health system.
Two draft documents have been produced:1) Future Direction, which sets out the high level thinking behind the strategy, and 2) Roadmap of Actions to ensure all New Zealanders live well, stay well, and get well, which identifies 20 work areas for the next five years to put the strategy in place.
The documents have been informed by stakeholder engagement held earlier this year, along with the MoH’s Funding Review and Capability and Capacity Review.
The draft strategy has 5 strategic themes: 1) people-powered 2) closer to home 3) value and high performance 4) one team 5) smart systems.
MoH has produced an accompanying video (see below) that provides a very good overview of the purpose and direction of the draft health strategy and is well worth a watch.
And if that isn’t enough consultation, MoH is hosting regional forums to discuss the draft Strategy and Roadmap of Actions.
